Environmental Studies

Imagine tackling many of the most significant challenges in the world today. As an environmental science student, you’ll have the opportunity to study and understand the complex relationships between the human race and the environment, drawing on a diverse range of disciplines such as physical, chemical and biological processes that take place on our planet.

齐天娱乐国际官网 Our Program

The Environmental Science program at Heritage University prepares students for careers that deal with complex environmental issues like air and water quality, conservation, watershed management, and natural resources planning. Emphasizing biology, chemistry, and geology, the program examines Earth’s ecosystems, climate changes and effects on the environment by human activities.

齐天娱乐国际官网Students in the program complete research projects and internships with top environmental agencies and programs such as the U.S. Department of Agriculture, U.S. Forest Service, the Environmental Protection Agency and major research universities. Upon completion of this program, students can apply their skills to a variety of careers within industry, nonprofit organizations and government as well as take advanced graduate studies in environmental sciences.

The long-term job outlook for environmental scientists is excellent. The Bureau of Labor statistics expects employment to increase substantially through 2018.

The Heritage Difference

齐天娱乐国际官网Internships: Heritage University lets you apply the principles learned in the classroom to real-world situations. Through internship programs, our students have worked alongside specialists at high-profile institutions like Oak Ridge National Laboratory, the United States Department of Agriculture laboratory, the University of Washington, and Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. This valuable field experience can be used to build a professional resume and has often opened doors for students to begin their careers.

Research Projects: Thanks to Heritage’s smaller class sizes, all students get an opportunity to participate in advanced research projects, which are often limited at other universities. Our students have completed air and water quality studies in partnership with the EPA, assisted NASA in mapping regional changes to naturally occurring plant materials, examined salmon DNA, completed genetic studies on insects, and researched renewable energy sources. It lets you tackle cutting-edge science right away.
